Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
211 PM PDT Sun Jul 20 2025

.SYNOPSIS...20/156 PM.

Night through morning low clouds and fog will continue for most
coast and some valley locations through the week. Below normal
temperatures will prevail.

&&

.SHORT TERM (TDY-WED)...20/158 PM.

A static southwest flow pattern will bring little day-to-day
change in the weather through Wednesday as a deep marine layer
more reminiscent of early June remains in place with night-to-
morning low clouds remaining in place including over much of
interior San Luis Obispo County. Patchy fog or drizzle will be
possible each morning especially across the foothills.

Below normal temperatures will prevail with sub-advisory
northwest to onshore winds peaking each afternoon to early
evening for interior areas and southwest Santa Barbara County.

.LONG TERM (THU-SUN)...20/158 PM.

High confidence in quiet weather next week with limited if any
impacts. Very gradual 500 mb height increases may support a slight
warming late in the week with temperatures largely remaining
below normal until at least next weekend. Night to morning low
clouds and fog may shrink to lower coastal valleys to the coast.
Advisory level Sundowner winds are possible each afternoon and
evening Thursday through Saturday for southwest Santa Barbara
County.

Near to below normal temperatures will likely continue into early
next week.

&&

.AVIATION...20/1935Z.

At 1833Z at KLAX, the marine layer was 2700 feet deep, with an
inversion top at 4400 feet and a maximum temperatures of 23 C.

High confidence in desert TAFs.

Moderate confidence in other TAF, with similar conditions
expected tonight and slow cloud clearing tomorrow. IFR to MVFR
conditions are expected to be widespread across the coast and
valleys, and flight categories may be one category lower at
times.

KLAX...Moderate confidence in TAF, arrival of cigs may be
off by +/- 2 hours this evening and heights off by +/- 300 ft.

KBUR...Moderate confidence in TAF, arrival of cigs may be
off by +/- 2 hours this evening and heights off by +/- 300 ft.

&&

.MARINE...20/210 PM.

Through Friday, periods of afternoon into night Small Craft
Advisory (SCA) winds will occur across portions of the Outer
Waters, strongest around Point Conception and San Miguel Island.

Through Monday, there is a chance of SCA winds in the evenings
for the inner waters north of Point Sal (20% chance), and in the
western portion of the Santa Barbara Channel (30-40% chance).
Tuesday through late this week, wind will grow stronger each
across the Inner Waters, with SCA winds likely for the Santa
Barbara Channel Wednesay through at least Friday. At this point,
winds are favored to remain below SCA levels through Friday for
the inner waters off the coast of LA and Orange Counties.

&&

.LOX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
CA...NONE.
PZ...Small Craft Advisory in effect until 3 AM PDT Monday for
